STARS: Astrotourism project for youth in Tenerife, Bali and Guadalcanal

ERASMUS+ The tagline of STARS is, “Empowering & Creating new job opportunities”, conducted by FIFEDE from Spain, The International Institute of Tourism and Business under Yayasan Dharma Widya Ulangun (Bali, Indonesia), Solomon Island National Youth Congress (Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands) and Asociacion Desaplatanate (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain).
STARS Project aims to foster cooperation and exchange of astrotourism activity creation, improve quality of the youth work and develop a new non formal learning method: “Astroturism creation as a NFL youth empowerment (and skill development) tool”.
It will be described in STARS Tool Kit that will be accesible to everyone at the end of the project.
The youth workers and youngsters have already begun the work of collecting myths and legends of their islands that are related to stars and sky. The project starting by early 2022 will be developed during 2 years and counts with an European grant of 59.995 euros. STARS includes an international training in Bali, an evaluation meeting in the Canary Islands as well as multiple activities at local level to be developed in three partner countries.
Why the rythm of life of the Balinese is dictated by the stars? Why nowadays the local indigenous people in the East Guadalcanal, the Solomon Islands believe that if the sky is very clear with a lightning strike with thunder, a mother leatherback asks permission to give birth to eggs? Responses to these and other questions will be found in the STARS Tool Kit.
TRAINING PERIODS Located in Ubud and let the participants experience non-formal education, 7 days of programme + 2 days of travel (total: 9 days).
THE PRESENT OPEN CALL The first international event of STARS will be held in Ubud, Bali (Indonesia) in the late of September 2022 and will bring together around 24 youth workers and youngsters from Spain (8 + 2), the Solomon Islands and Indonesia (8 participants) in order to discover together the potential of astrotourism.

HOSTING REGION AND COUNTRY: Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
DURATION OF THE STAY: 7 days of programme + 2 days of travel (total: 9 days)
DATES OF THE STAY: 1-9 October 2022, dates to be defined
GRANT: Students’Credit Participation (6 SKP), all-included program, certificate
BENEFICIARIES: in-house students, or youngsters who have passion to learn more about guiding with astrological tourism.
COMPROMISE OF THE BENEFICIARIES:
- Sign an Mobility Agreement with more specific details.
- Support actively and participate in hosting delegation in Ubud, Indonesia during 7 days in September – October 202
- Attend full programme with proactive and positive attitude.
- During the stay in Ubud, elaborate and publish on the social networks at least two videos (max. a minute of duration).
- At the end of the mobility, elaborate the “STARS Astrological Tourism” certificate.
- After the programme, present the Attendance Certificate, Mobility Report, invoices of such main costs as the transport and accommodation; fill in online ERASMUS+ questionnaire.
- After the mobility, assist to an evaluation meeting, disseminate his/her experience (online or offline).
- Not fulfilling these or any other requests from IPBI or FIFEDE may lead to partial or complete loose of ERASMUS+ grant.
THE SELECTION PROCESS:
- Public, transparent and without any kind of discrimination.
- Developed by Selection Committee of 8 participants (5 from IPBI and 1 from Bali CoBTA and 2 from external) with support of FIFEDE.
- The candidates have to present the following documents:
- Certificate of English knowledge or a written request for an English test to be developed by IPBI.
- CV (in English).
- Motivation letter (in English) explaining why the candidate would like to be selected, compromise with the programme and conditions of participating, qualities of the candidate, goals and expected results of the mobility, compromise to develop activities after the mobility (any other apart of the COMPROMISE OF THE BENEFICIERIES).
- OPTIONAL: Certificate of IPBI indicating international project experience of the candidate or working with youth with less opportunities. Although international project experience is not mandatory, it will be evaluated positively as the aim of the current project is to boost transcontinental collaboration.
- Document will be received no longer than 24th of August, and the administration selection result will be announce by 25th. Those selected participants will follow the interview by by 26th of August 2022.
- The Selection Committee will evaluate the candidates following these criteria:
- ENGLISH: English knowledge: max. 5 points (20%)
- B1 level: 1 point
- B2 level: 3 points
- C1 level or higher: 5 points
- INCLUSION: Working with youngsters with less opportunities: 3 points (12%)
- CERTIFICATE OF IPBI: Experience with international projects: max. 5 points (20%)
- Participant of int. projects (less than 2 years): 1 point
- Participant of int. projects (more than 2 years): 2 points
- Coordinator of int. projects (less than 2 years): 3 points
- Coordinator of int. projects (more than 2 years): 5 points
- PERSONAL QUALITIES: To be evaluated from the motivation letter and, if the Selection Committee considers it relevant, organize an individual interview: max. 12 points (48%)
- Relevance of the candidate: max. 3 points
- Personal and professional goals for the mobility: max. 3 points
- Expected impact of the mobility: max. 3 points
- Compromise to develop actions after the mobility (the ones mentioned in COMPROMISE OF THE BENEFICIERIES as well as any other proposal): max. 3 points
- ENGLISH: English knowledge: max. 5 points (20%)
- The final decision will be approved by both Selection Committee of IPBI and FIFEDE.
